The internet makes everyone feel much taller/stronger than they are. It takes the fun/horror out of telling it like it is to another person. There’s no consequence, rather than tongues it’s just a body of text, flapping in the wind… same even goes for text messaging. There used to be this unspoken, understood agreement that if put on paper read “If it’s that important, if I feel that strongly about it, I’ll call” or “I’d rather tell you in person.” All the typing has left folks fingers so numb to the realization that there is a person on the receiving end of their opinions. It doesn’t register with them anymore. They’d rather have confirmation from some stranger they more than likely wont ever meet than stomach having to look someone in the eye and tell them truth regardless of the outcome
